News > Endurance Challenge for NCW

Sales Director of Kidderminster firm Anderman Industrial Ceramics, Gary Hateley, undertook a phenomenal challenge over the summer to raise money for NCW.

On Sunday 20th August, Gary travelled the equivalent of 110km at his gym in 10 hour continuous event utilising 4 items of cardio-vascular equipment including 20km on a treadmill, 10km on an elliptical trainer, 20km on a rowing machine and 60km on a bike. Starting at 4.30am on 20th August, Gary ran, cycled, rowed and used the cross trainer to reach his target in 8 hours.

The money raised will go towards purchasing a piece of state-of-the-art gym equipment for a brand new multi-gym at the College. The former stables building on the Campus has been undergoing a transformation to become a 21st Century fitness centre for the students, staff and local community to benefit from.

Gary said “I'm delighted that I managed to achieve my target. My character is one that constantly seeks a new challenge to test and push myself, but doing it to raise much needed funds for the College provided the motivation to complete the daunting task. NCW is such a worthy local cause, and I can’t think of anything more fitting”.

Gary followed a strict endurance training regime which started every day at 5.30am before heading to work.

So far Gart has raised £1,500 towards fitness equipment for the new Multi Gym, but it's not too late to support him. You can support Gary at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GaryHateley
