Tracking and Reporting Progress in Key Stage 3
New College Worcester has developed new attainment levels for Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9) students to replace the previous National Curriculum levels for reporting attainment and progress.
Schools have been given the freedom to design a curriculum that guarantees students a rigorous and balanced education. We have therefore developed our own NCW scheme to track and record student progress in a range of subject areas.
Each department has developed key themes within their subject area and students will have their attainment and progress measured against these new levels and themes each term.
We have specified 7 new attainment levels (1 is lowest, 7 is highest):
- Preliminary (working towards Foundation level)
- Exceptional (working above Advanced level)
We will be measuring students’ current level of attainment at the start of the year and then tracking their progress during the year. Students who are not making suitable progress will have a range of interventions to support their attainment. Students achieving Established level by the end of year 9 would be expected to obtain grade C in their GCSEs in year 11.
